Cloud-native technology, particularly Kubernetes, is now mainstream, according to the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF).

At KubeCon Europe 2025, held earlier this month in London, new research was released claiming cloud-native adoption has reached an all-time high — 89% of surveyed organizations. With Kubernetes now running in production at 80% of companies — up from 66% just a year ago — the event highlighted how the ecosystem has evolved beyond early adoption to become the foundation of modern enterprise infrastructure.

The conference, organized by the Linux Foundation, showcased a shift in industry priorities from basic implementation concerns to optimization, efficiency, and skill development. As organizations increasingly build mission-critical applications on cloud-native platforms — with 80% planning to build most new applications this way within five years — announcements at KubeCon reflected the ecosystem’s maturation and growing focus on operational excellence, security, and performance at scale.
